On the Tampa Bay Lightning …
  • Bryan Burns: Coach Jon Cooper said yesterday that Tyler Johnson’s status for Game 1 is still not known: “He couldn’t go today, so hopefully he’s a little bit better for tomorrow.”
  • Joe Smith: Victor Hedman and Nikita Kucherov said they are good to go for Game 1. Ryan Callahan is encourage by his progress.
On the Pittsburgh Penguins …
  • Pens Inside Scoop: Coach Mike Sullivan said that Matt Murray is day-to-day with an upper-body injury. Evgeni Malkin skated yesterday morning and is still day-to-day.
  • Jenn Menendez: Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury: “Just one day at a time. …we’ll see how it goes in the next few days. Hopefully everything is good.”
  • Pens Inside Scoop: Defenseman Olli Maatta had no restrictions at practice yesterday. He’d been skating on his own, but yesterday was his first practice. He doesn’t know if he’ll be ready for Game 1.
On the New York Islanders …
  • Arthur Staple: Both Travis Hamonic and Brian Strait skated yesterday. The rest of the team was off.
  • Arthur Staple of Newsday: Jaroslav Halak didn’t skate yesterday. He’s five weeks into his projected six to eight week timeframe. Coach Jack Capuano said on the weekend that Halak is “still a ways away.” Mikhail Grabovski, out with concussion symptoms, still isn’t skating and it appears that his season could be over.
On the New York Rangers …
  • Pat Leonard: Defenseman Ryan McDonagh skated before practice, but wasn’t holding onto his stick with his right hand.
  • Pat Leonard: Eric Staal, Viktor Stalberg, Mats Zuccarello and Dan Girardi were on the ice for practice.
On the Chicago Blackhawks …
  • Tracey Myers: Defenseman Viktor Svedberg didn’t practice yesterday. He suffered a lower-body injury on the weekend.
On the Minnesota Wild …
  • Michael Russo: Zach Parise is still day-to-day with an undisclosed injury. Sources saying that he was seeing a specialist at the Mayo Clinic yesterday after he aggravated a back injury a week ago. He’s been bothered by it since January.Source saying that Thomas Vanek is ‘Iffy” to play in their first round. He has an upper-body injury.

    Erik Haula has missed two practices with an undisclosed injury. Coach John Torchetti thinks he’ll be able to go.

On the St. Louis Blues …
  • Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: David Backes (lower-body) and Troy Brouwer (undisclosed) didn’t practice yesterday. Jake Allen (lower-body) practiced yesterday. Steve Ott (colitis) skated yesterday and could be close.
On the San Jose Sharks …
  • Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area: Both Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Matt Nieto practice yesterday and on track to play in Game 1.
On the Boston Bruins …
  • CSNNE: David Krejci will have left hip surgery in the upcoming weeks. He’s been bothered by the injury the past two seasons.
On the New Jersey Devils …
  • Andrew Gross: GM Ray Shero said that both Mike Cammalleri and Jon Merrill “should be fine for next year” after their injuries this season.
On the Buffalo Sabres …
  • Joe Yerdon: GM Tim Murray said that Cody McCormick won’t be playing again due to his blood clot issue. He has one year left on his contract. Murray wasn’t sure if McCormick would remain with the organization in an advisory role or if they would work on a financial settlement.
On the Winnipeg Jets …
  • Ken Wiebe: Defenseman Ben Chiarot and Julian Melchirori will be having surgery to fix some minor lower-body injuries.
On the Columbus Blue Jackets …
  • Aaron Portzline: Defenseman David Savard had surgery yesterday to repair his ankle. Recovery will be six to eight weeks.
