On the Anaheim Ducks …
Bob McKenzie: The Ducks put Simon Despres on the LTIR. Despres carries a $3.7 million salary cap hit, giving them some financial flexibility.
Cap Friendly: The Ducks putting Despres on the LTIR likely happened before Saturday’s roster moves. The Ducks now have about an extra $3,376,667 in cap room.
On the Ottawa Senators …
Bruce Garrioch: Senators forward Clarke MacArthur said he’s not ready to retire yet. He’s been skating and hopes that he can return.
On the Vancouver Canucks …
Iain MacIntyre: Canucks coach Willie Desjardins confirms that Derek Dorsett has a shoulder injury.
On the New York Islanders …
Arthur Staple of Newsday: Islanders defenseman Nick Leddy returned to the lineup after missing one game with an infected finger.
Defenseman Ryan Pulock will be out at least a month with a broken foot.
On the Arizona Coyotes …
Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic: Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith will be out week-to-week with a lower-body injury.
“He’s in good spirits back home, and we’ll see where he’s at next week,” coach Dave Tippett said.
The injury isn’t as serious as it could have been. It appears to be a left knee injury suffered last Tuesday when his leg got tangled underneath him as he was turning back to reach for the puck. Smith was put on the IR retroactive to Tuesday. Tippett thinks Smith will be back on the ice soon.
Jamie McGinn rejoined the team after missing the start of their road trip with an upper-body injury.
“Looks good,” Tippett said. “It’s the first practice today he’s had in a couple of weeks. He won’t play (against the Rangers), but we’ll get him another good practice tomorrow and he’s possibly an option for New Jersey (Tuesday).”
On the New York Rangers …
Justin Tasch: Rangers forward Chris Kreider missed last night’s game with neck spasms. Coach Alain Vigneault wasn’t sure if the issue stemmed from something that happened on Saturday night.
The Rangers activated Oscar Lindberg from the IR and put Pavel Buchnevich from the IR with back spasms.
