“P.K. Subban suffered a neck injury. He was taken to a hospital for precautionary measures. He will undergo further testing. He was alert and moving his members normally.”
Coach Michel Therrian talked to Subban and their team doctor before he was taken to the hospital.
“We had a good conversation,” Therrien said. “He was capable to move everything. That’s the good news regarding the circumstances. We really hope he’s going to be good.”
- Eric Engles: Max Pacioretty did confirm that P.K. Subban was talking as the left the ice.
- Stu Cowan: Pacioretty said that Subban was moving his hands and feet, and was talking while leaving the ice.
- Eric Engles: Subban was able to move his extremities on the doctors instructions while he was on the ice.

On the Calgary Flames …
- Kristen Odland of the Calgary Sun: Center Sam Bennett is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.Defenseman TJ Brodie is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
Defenseman Deryk Engelland is still out with a lower-body injury.
Defenseman Ladislav Smid is still out with an upper-body injury.
“The medical staff and the doctors are working on our guys,” said Flames head coach Bob Hartley.
“There’s going to be tests made on a few of them. As of now, everyone is day-to-day. We don’t know for sure if they’re in or out (Friday) … at the same time, we don’t feel any of those injuries are serious. So, hopefully (Friday) everyone can be in the lineup.”
On the Dallas Stars …
- Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News: Defenseman Jason Demers will be out for at least six weeks with a shoulder injury. Demers suffered the injury on Tuesday when he got tagled up with Lucas Lessio and fell to the ice.
“I kind of got wrapped up with the guy,” Demers said. “His stick kind of wrapped around. It was in the corner and I guess my arm got caught hallway up.”
The Stars are also without defenseman John Klingberg (lower-body) and Jordie Benn (lower-body). Neither is expected to play tonight or tomorrow. Patrick Sharp is also expected to miss both games with a lower-body injury.
“Sharp is doing the best of them all. Klingberg looks like he’s still a period of time away. Jordie Benn is still a little bit of time away,” Ruff said. “I know they’ll miss the next two, and then we’ll look at it after the weekend and see where they are at.”
On the Pittsburgh Penguins …
- Jenn Menendez of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Carl Hagelin has missed the Penguins past two games with a concussion. He passed concussion protocol. Eric Fehr took part in a full practice and was on the wing with Matt Cullen. Beau Bennett was wearing a no-contract jersey, but appears to be getting closer to returning.
“We’ll see how guys respond after our practice, but I do suspect that we’ll have some lineup decisions to make,” Sullivan said after practice Thursday.
