On the Pittsburgh Penguins …
Wes Crosby of NHL.com: Sidney Crosby’s status for Game 5 today is still not known. He’s listed as day-to-day according to coach Mike Sullivan but is getting close.
“It was good to get out there,” Crosby said. “Skated yesterday too and felt good. I feel good. Right now just kind of following what I’m told to do.”
Crosby took contact at practice and they are waiting to see how he responds today.
“I don’t want to rule it out,” Crosby said. “It’s not really up to me. You just kind of relay how you feel and kind of direct it from there. … I’ve felt pretty good right on from to now. So I’m probably as good as you can expect.”
Connor Sheary who is also out with a concussion has been pretty much symptom-free the last couple days and he thinks that he’ll be a game-time decision.
Jason Mackey: Crosby said yesterday that it was the third day that he’s skated, so he was apparently on the ice Wednesday.
Pens Inside Scoop: Crosby said that the slash he took from Alex Ovechkin was “pretty common” and on Matt Niskanen, “hard to say.”
Nick Cotsonika: Sullivan said that they are not handling Crosby’s and Sheary’s concussions any different because it’s the playoffs. Players health will always come first.
Sam Werner: Sullivan on Murray: “We’re encouraged by how much he’s progressed here over the past couple of days.”
Dave Molinari: Murray was on the ice for at least an hour yesterday.
