On the Anaheim Ducks …
Elliott Teaford of Inside SoCal: Coach Bruce Boudreau said yesterday that defenseman Kevin Bieksa and Sami Vatanen are “questionable” for tonight. Bieksa has a lower-body injury and Vatanen has an upper-body injury. Both are considered day-to-day.
“I don’t think either of them is long term at all,” Boudreau said. “I think it’s a short term thing and, hopefully, they’ll both be back before the end of the week. Right now, it’s just day to day.”
Eric Stephens: Cam Fowler is now able to remove the shield he was wearing.
On the Detroit Red Wings …
Ansar Khan: Defenseman Niklas Kronwall will be out for one to three weeks with a slightly sprained knee according to GM Ken Holland.
Bob Duff: Kronwall’s injured knee isn’t the same knee that he had surgery on in January.
On the Calgary Flames …
Calgary Flames: Coach Bob Hartley on Sam Bennett and TJ Brodie: “Bennett is definitely out, Brodie is doubtful.”
On the Tampa Bay Lightning …
Bryan Burns: Valtteri Filppula left yesterday’s game with an upper-body injury.
Joe Smith: Coach Jon Cooper didn’t have an update on Filppula or Nikita Kucherov after the game. He doesn’t think there is a long-term injury concern.
On the New York Rangers …
NY Rangers: Derick Brassard returned to the lineup yesterday. Tanner Glass was out with an upper-body injury.
On the Chicago Blackhawks …
Chris Hine of the Chicago Tribune: Forward Marcus Kruger hasn’t been cleared for contact yet, and is unlikely to start playing before their four-game road trip that begins on March 26th.
“I’m not going to lie: It’s been tough,” Kruger said. “Some days were worse than others, but I’ve been trying to take it day by day and do everything I need to do to get back as soon as possible. So it’s been a long time, and I’m pretty excited to be out there with the boys again.”
