NHL injury updates

Calgary Flames: Forward Sam Bennett missed last night’s games with a lower-body injury and is listed as day-to-day.

Michael Smith: Carolina Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour said that they kept forward Erik Haula off the ice yesterday and maybe a few more to give him some extra rest. He has an upper-body injury which is not a concussion. Brind’Amour doesn’t expect him to miss any time.

Aaron Portzline: Columbus Blue Jackets forward Ryan Murray (back) and forward Josh Anderson (shoulder) traveled with the team yesterday to Toronto.

George Richards of The Athletic: Florida Panthers forward Aleksander Barkov suffered an “upper-body” injury according to coach Joel Quenneville with GM Dale Tallon calling it a “minor injury.”

The Panthers had yesterday off after flying home after Saturday’s game.

Forward Vincent Trocheck missed a bit of time on Saturday after blocking a shot off his ankle, but he still ended up playing over 23 minutes.

Eric Engels: Montreal Canadiens forward Joel Armia missed yesterday’s game with a lower-body injury.

Andrew Gross: The New York Islanders gave forward Tom Kuhnhackl a maintenance day, and forward Leo Komarov is still sick.

Kevin Kurz: San Jose Sharks defenseman Radim Simek is traveling with the team on their five-game road trip but is unlikely to play. He was taking some contact in battle drills yesterday at practice which is a good sign.

Kevin Kurz: Sharks coach Pete DeBoer said that defenseman Dalton Prout is closer to returning to the lineup than Simek is. So, it sounds like Prout could play during their road trip.

Bryan Burns: Tampa Bay Lightning coach Jon Cooper said Cedric Paquette is now day-to-day.

“I don’t know if the injury is as much the issue now as working him back into game shape. But he looked good today, and we’ll see how he is on Tuesday.”

NHL.com: Winnipeg Jets forward Bryan Little made his season debut last night after missing the first nine games with a concussion.
