NHL Injury Updates

Chip Alexander: Carolina Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour had said earlier this week that forward Erik Haula was day-to-day. Yesterday he said that Haula was not with the team and that he’s not day-to-day.

Michael Smith: Hurricanes forward Jordan Martinook was on the ice yesterday but is not taking contact yet.

Adrian Dater: Colorado Avalanche defenseman Nikita Zadorov is week-to-week after having surgery to repair a broken jaw.

Jon Rosen: Los Angeles Kings coach Todd McLellan said Trevor Lewis is out with a lower-body injury. He is to be re-evaluated back home, “but it’s probably a little longer than what we originally anticipated, so he’ll need some time to recover.”

Michael Russo: Minnesota Wild forward Marcus Foligno missed yesterday’s game with an injury, while Luke Kunin was out with an illness.

John Lu: Montreal Canadiens coach Claude Julien said that Jesperi Kotkaniemi is still day-to-day. They are being cautious with him as he’s at the stage where if he pushes too hard he could suffer a setback.

Paul Skrbina of the Nashville Tennessean: Nashville Predators defenseman Dante Fabbro left yesterday’s game bleeding after taking an Evander Kane shot to the face. He returned for the final eight minutes wearing a cage.

Arthur Staple: The New York Islanders activate forward Jordan Eberle off the IR.

Dan Rosen: New York Rangers defenseman Marc Staal will be re-evaluated in two weeks after he had a procedure done on his infected ankle.

Pens Inside Scoop: Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan didn’t have an update on Sidney Crosby who left last night’s game early.

“He went out in the third period with a lower-body injury. He’s being evaluated as we speak. We’ll probably have more information on Monday.”

Mark Zwolinski of the Toronto Star: Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner left last night’s game with a right ankle injury. He isn’t traveling with the team to Chicago for tonight’s game.

Coach Mike Babcock on the injury.

“I don’t know the extent — days, weeks. No sense dwelling on the negatives. Someone else gets an opportunity. Let’s go.”

Samantha Pell: Washington Capitals forward Carl Hagelin missed last night’s game with an upper-body injury and is considered day-to-day.
