Elliotte Friedman: Norris Trophy finalists: Brent Burns (San Jose), Mark Giordano (Calgary) and Victor Hedman (Tampa Bay).

NHL Records

John Shannon: “According to the NHL, Tomas Hertl’s shorthanded goal in the 2nd OT tonight is the first of its kind. He becomes the first player in NHL history to score a shorthanded winner in a game that required multiple overtimes.”

Frank Seravalli: Players scoring a short-handed goal in the first overtime since 1980: Alex Steen, Fernando Pisani, Jason Pominville, Tony Granato, Wayne Gretzky and Brent Sutter.

Jeremy Rutherford: According to the NHL: “The Blues became the first team in the NHL’s expansion era (since 1967-68) to win a playoff series after ranking last overall at any point after New Year’s Day (min. 20 GP).”

Injured Hurricanes

Michael Smith: Carolina Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov is “highly doubtful” for Game 6 according to coach Rod Brind’Amour.

Sara Civ: Svechnikov said that “his head still hurts a little bit” yesterday.

Michael Smith: Coach Brind’Amour on Jordan Martinook‘s lower-body injury: “Marty is trying. His heart’s sure in it. I just don’t know if his body is going to be able to let him go.”

Oshie has surgery

Capitals PR: Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie underwent surgery to repair his fractured right clavicle. He’ll be out indefinitely.
