Lisa Dillman: If defenseman Kevin Bieksa continues to progress, he could be ready for Game 1 according to Randy Carlyle.
Lisa Dillman of NHL.com: Goaltender John Gibson practiced yesterday for the first time since suffering an upper-body injury. The Ducks are hopeful he’ll be able to start on Thursday.
“We fully expect if he continues to show this progression, that he’s going to be available to us,” Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. “I think the additional day off for everybody (Sunday), he was in for treatment. That enhances his recovery and he’s moving well.
“Hopefully things continue to progress at the same rate they have over the last 48 hours and we’ll make a decision.”

Craig Morgan: GM John Chayka updated injuries: Niklas Hjalmarsson has a core injury, Jakob Chychrun had a significant knee injury that will require surgery, Jason Demers (hand) and Christian Dvorak (back) should all be ready for the training camp in December. Forward Derek Stepan had been playing with a foot injury.
On the Calgary Flames …
Pat Steinberg: Defenseman T.J. Brodie confirms that he suffered a concussion and neck injury in March. He hasn’t been medically cleared so he won’t be playing in the World Championships for Canada.
Pat Steinberg: Forward Sean Monahan had his wrist in a sling after having his left wrist reconstructed. Recovery will be about three months.
Pat Steinberg: Monahan added that he’s had two hernia surgeries and on his groin.
Pat Steinberg: Forward Matthew Tkachuk confirmed that he missed the last part of the season with a concussion.

Jon Rosen: Defenseman Jake Muzzin was on the ice for practice yesterday in a no-contact jersey. Forward Alex Iafallo practiced in a regular jersey.

Sara Orlesky: Defenseman Toby Enstrom won’t be ready for Game 1. Defenseman Jacob Trouba practiced yesterday and should be good to go.
Ted Wyman: Coach Paul Maurice said there are no concerns over Trouba’s readiness to play in round 1.
