On the Boston Bruins …

Boston Bruins: Coach Bruce Cassidy ruled forward Brad Marchand and defenseman Torey Krug out for tonight. Cassidy said that Ryan Spooner is getting close to returning.

Joe Haggerty: Forward Anders Bjork is also out tonight.

Steve Conroy: The Bruins recalled Matt Grzelcyk.

On the Carolina Hurricanes …

Cory Lavalette: Forward Victor Rask will miss tonight’s game.

On the New York Rangers …

Steve Zipay of Newsday: Doctors wanted to take a closer look Ryan McDonagh’s lingering issue. He won’t travel with the team, and it’s unclear if he’ll be available on Friday.

“It’s something that has been there for a little bit, doesn’t seem to be getting better right now . . . so our doctors are checking it out,” said Vigneault, who acknowledged that the problem was why McDonagh was given practice days off for “maintenance” or treatment in recent weeks, including Oct. 18, Oct. 24 and Nov. 1.

Justin Tasch: Coach Alain Vigneault said that Ryan McDonagh‘s maintenance days earlier this season was for an ab strain.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Sam Werner: Carter Rowney practiced with teammates yesterday and was wearing a contact jersey.

Sam Werner: Evgeni Malkin is ruled out for tonight by coach Mike Sullivan yesterday. They will re-evaluate Malkin on Thursday to see if he’ll be able to play in their back-to-back games this weekend. Sullivan said Malkin was injured against the Blackhawks. Jake Guentzel took Malkin’s spot between Bryan Rust and Phil Kessel.

On the Tampa Bay Lightning …

Joe Smith: Forward Cedric Paquette has skated with teammates the past two days and could be ready to return soon.
