On Scouting …

Eric Engels: “Just in general, as a pro scout recently told me, we in the media make a bit too much out of amount of scouts at a gm or seeing a GM show up. Said most of the time, a GM is there just because he wanted an excuse to get out of town and away from the circus and even the owner.”

Eric Engels: On average there are usually seven or eight scouts at every Montreal Canadiens game.

On the Arizona Coyotes …

Craig Morgan: The Coyotes placed defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson on the IR.

Craig Morgan: The Coyotes have activated goaltender Antti Raanta from the IR.

On the New York Islanders …

Arthur Staple: Defenseman Adam Pelech is not traveling with the team and is listed as day-to-day.

On the Philadelphia Flyers …

Philadelphia Flyers: Defenseman Radko Gudas missed last night’s game with an upper-body injury.

On the San Jose Sharks …

Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News: Defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic was at the arena yesterday after he left Thursday’s game with an apparent head injury.

Not much of an update was given. Coach Pete DeBoer said the upper-body injury was not severe and he’s considered day-to-day. DeBoer doesn’t believe it’s a long-term injury.

Defenseman Paul Martin wants to have one more full practice before getting into a game next week. He’s been out since October 12th with an ankle issue. He hopes to fully participate in practice today.

Kevin Kurz: Martin said his original plan was to play next week but hasn’t ruled out Saturday. It seems unlikely though.

On the Vegas Golden Knights …

Steve Carp: GM George McPhee said that he’s still waiting to hear from doctors about Marc-Andre Fleury: “With concussions you never know. Could be 3 days, 3 weeks or 3 months.”
