Injury updates on some Chicago Blackhawks
Eric Lear: Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford said that he had a concussion last year and he didn’t have vertigo. Crawford added that most of the concussion symptoms are gone.
Tracey Myers: Crawford on his concussion: “I’m still getting over symptoms. Most of them are gone, but I’m not clear yet. So until that happens, I won’t be back in.”
Chicago Blackhawks: Defenseman Connor Murphy will be out for eight weeks with a back injury. Brent Seabrook will miss a week with an abdominal injury. Gustav Forsling is still recovering from a right wrist injury.
Barrie pulls a muscle
Adrian Dater: Colorado Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie pulled a muscle while he was preparing to go on the ice.
Adrian Dater: Barrie’s issue is lower-body.
Sheahan dealing with a lower-body injury
Pens Inside Scoop: Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said that Riley Sheahan has been bothered by a nagging lower-body injury. Kevin Czuczman had offseason shoulder surgery and will be out until December.
McGinn out for months
George Richards: The Florida Panthers will be without forward Jamie McGinn for a few months after surgery on his back. He dealt with it last season and was doing better this offseason, but he re-aggravated it.
Shaw hasn’t received clearance yet
John Lu: Montreal Canadiens coach Claude Julien said that Andrew Shaw has been skating and is not experiencing any concussion symptoms. He hasn’t been cleared to return to practice yet.
Abramov gets clearance
Brian Hedger: Columbus Blue Jackets forward Vitaly Abramov (wrist) has been given clearance for contact and preseason games.
Lightning to terminate Dotchin’s contract
Erik Erlendsson: The Tampa Bay Lightning have placed defenseman Jake Dotchin on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract because of a “material breach” of his contract. The team wouldn’t comment further.
Cap Friendly: Dotchin had another year left on his deal – a $812,5000 salary cap hit but a salary of $925,000.
Joe Smith of The Athletic: Dotchin and his agent Sam Perreault “respectfully disagree” and are considering their options to appeal.
Sources say that the Lightning weren’t happy with the physical condition that Dotchin reported to camp in. Perreault said that conditioning was the only issue they were aware of.
Dotchin was suspended by the team at last year’s camp for a violation of an unspecified team rule.
