- Pittsburgh Penguins: Penguins GM Jim Rutherford: “Sidney Crosby has been undergoing treatment on a right wrist injury that he suffered during the season. Sid is getting medical advice to determine the best path moving forward, including the possibility of arthroscopic surgery. No final decision has been made on surgery at this point. We expect to have a decision by early next week.”
- William DePaoli: Sidney Crosby’s camp is saying that he was only experiencing a little discomfort in his wrist during the playoffs. The leak come from within the Penguins organization and they are not happy about it.
- Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger: Devils GM Lou Lamoriello on Martin Brodeur after signing Cory Schneider to a seven-year extension.
“I wouldn’t use the word sadness. Marty has had a tremendous career here and Marty will always be a Devil. Marty realizes what is necessary as far as the decision going forward with Cory… He was excited for the organization when we acquired Cory because he had so much respect for Cory as a player and also, through the conversations Marty and I had throughout the year at different times, the respect he had for him as an individual.
“I don’t want to look at this as sadness. He had a great career. He’ll always be a Devil. Just in a different way. Right now it’s going forward. Time has a way of taking care of that and decisions have to be made. Marty’s legacy is what he is. Cory is not here to replace Marty. Cory is here to establish his own identity, which he has done, and to go forward with that.
