Domi suspended

NHL Player Safety: The NHL has suspended Montreal Canadiens forward Max Domi for the remainder of the preseason for his ‘roughing’ on Florida Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad.

Pavelec retires

Allan Walsh: Goaltender Ondrej Pavelec announced his retirement from the NHL yesterday after 11 seasons.

Canucks lose Eriksson to a knee injury

Jeff Paterson: Vancouver Canucks forward Loui Eriksson is week-to-week with a knee injury. Forward Antoine Roussel is a question mark for their season opener.

Rantanen’s injury not serious

Adrian Dater: Colorado Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen left practice early yesterday with a muscle strain. Coach Jared Bednar said it’s not serious.

Fabbri could return this weekend

Jim Thomas: Coach Mike Yeo said that Robby Fabbri is day-to-day. He could play in their preseason game on Sunday.

Flyers lose Lyon to a lower-body injury

Adam Kimelman: Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Alex Lyon will be out for four weeks with a lower-body injury.

Vilardi still week-to-week

Curtis Zupke: Los Angeles Kings GM Rob Blake didn’t have much of an update on forward Gabriel Vilardi other than he’s still week-to-week.

Boqvist could start the season with the Blackhawks

Mark Lazerus of The Athletic: Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville isn’t ruling out 2018 first round draft pick Adam Boqvist from starting the season with the team.

“I’m not throwing that out of the realm of possibilities,” he said.
