NHL News: Flames and Kulak … Wild and Dumba … Ducks, Eaves and Kesler

The Anaheim Ducks could get Patrick Eaves back this season but the news may not as good for Ryan Kesler.

Flames and Kulak exchange numbers …

Elliotte Friedman: Brett Kulak asked for $1.15 million, with the Flames offering a two-way at $650,000.

Dumba’s new contract details …

Michael Russo of The Athletic: Salary breakdown of Matt Dumba’s five-year, $30 million deal.

2018-19 – $5.2 million
2019-20 – $7.4 million
2020-21 – $4.8 million
2021-22 – $7.4 million
2022-23 – $5.2 million

A source has said that there is no signing bonuses. There is a modified no-trade clause for the final two years of the deal.

“We see that he has a lot of room to grow,” Fenton said. “If two years from now, we had gone to a five-year term, I think you would see that the AAV would have been much higher based on where we could have been in arbitration this year.”

Odds appear to be better for Eaves than Kesler …

Elliotte Teaford of the OC Register: Ducks GM Bob Murray said yesterday that they are expecting forward Patrick Eaves to play next season.

Eaves only appeared to two games last season after he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome.

Things may not be looking as good for forward Ryan Kesler.

“I’m more confident that Patrick Eaves is going to play for the full season than I am of Ryan Kesler at the moment, although ‘Kes’ says he’s going to be fine,” Murray said during an event with Ducks season-ticket holders at Bolsa Chica State Beach.

Kesler appeared in only 44 games last year after he had hip surgery last offseason.
