Ducks lock up Gibson long-term
Elliott Teaford of OC Register: The Anaheim Ducks and goaltender John Gibson have agreed on an eight-year contract extension with a salary cap hit of $6.4 million.
The 25-year old Gibson was entering the final year of his three-year deal which he’ll make $2.3 million. He would have been an RFA after this season.
“I believe in John Gibson, as does everyone in the organization,” Ducks general manager Bob Murray said in a statement. “This is obviously a major commitment by the club, but one we feel strongly about. John is equally committed to being a Duck. He is only now entering the prime of his career, and we are all confident his best is yet to come.”
Forwards Ondrej Kase and Nick Ritchie are the Ducks remaining RFAs.
Eric Stephens of The Athletic: John Gibson’s new deal with the Ducks comes in at eight years and $51.2 million. It comes with a limited no-trade clause that kicks in, in 2021 when he would have been eligible to become a UFA. The Ducks are believed to have been looking for a six-year deal.

Chris Johnston: The Vegas Golden Knights and William Karlsson settle on a one-year deal at $5.25 million before their arbitration hearing. A nice raise from the $1 million he made last season. He could be in line for more on his next contract.

Ken Campbell: New Jersey Devils forward Taylor Hall has two years left on his deal but has reportedly left The Orr Group and is now back with his former agent Darren Ferris.
Skinner said he didn’t turn down any trade offers
Paul Hamilton: Jeff Skinner said he waived his no-trade clause for the Buffalo Sabres because their young core is exciting. He spoke to players who had already played in Buffalo and they had good things to say about the ownership, city and the fans.
WGR 550: Skinner said that he didn’t turn down any trade offers from the Hurricanes. Added that he thinks the Sabres offer was on the only one that the Hurricanes brought to him.
