On Waivers …

Renaud Lavoie: The Calgary Flames put Eddie Lack on waivers. The Ottawa Senators put Christopher DiDomenico on waivers. The Anaheim Ducks put Jaycob Megna on waivers.

Cap Friendly: The Lack clears waivers and is assigned to the AHL, $350,000 of his salary cap would count for the Flames. The Carolina Hurricanes are would still have $1.375 million against their cap.

On the Anaheim Ducks …

Eric Stephens: Goaltender Ryan Miller (lower-body) said that he’d be good to go this weekend. John Gibson was given yesterday off.

On the Arizona Coyotes …

Arizona Coyotes: The Coyotes recalled goaltender Marek Langhamer on an emergency basis.

Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic: Goaltender Antti Raanta will be out today and tomorrow and is listed as day-to-day. It’s believed he has concussion-related symptoms.

“You never know with any kind of head injury, any kind of shoulder-head injuries. They can linger,” Tocchet said after skating the team through a brisk practice on Thursday. “I really have no idea how long he might be out.”

On the Chicago Blackhawks …

NHL Player Safety: The NHL has fined Blackhawks John Hayden $2,486.56 for high sticking J.T. Brown.

On the Colorado Avalanche …

Ron Knabenbauer of NHL.com: Goaltender Semyon Varlamov returned to practice yesterday after missing time with an illness, but won’t dress against Minnesota today.

On the Dallas Stars …

Mark Stepneski: The Stars recalled defenseman Julius Honka, forward Curtis McKenzie and goaltender Mike McKenna.

On the Los Angeles Kings …

Curtis Zupke: Forward Kyle Clifford has been skating on his own, but coach John Stevens said: “He thinks he can probably play today, but he’s not there yet.”

On the Los Angeles Kings and Montreal Canadiens …

Cap Friendly: The Canadiens traded forward Torrey Mitchell to the Kings for a conditionals 2018 5th round pick. If the Kings make the playoffs, the Canadiens will get their 2018 4th round pick back. They had originally sent it to the Kings for Dwight King.

Cap Friendly: The Canadiens save $870,968 in projected salary cap space for the remainder of the season by trading Mitchell.

On the New York Rangers …

Justin Tasch: Coach Alain Vigneault said the defenseman Ryan McDonagh‘s abdominal strain is mild. They have shut him down until Sunday, and they’ll reevaluate him then.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Pens Inside Scoop: Penguins coach Mike Sullivan on Evgeni Malkin‘s status: “He will not travel with us to Boston. We’ll evaluate him when we come back.”

Pens Inside Scoop: Sullivan on Malkin: “One of the reasons he’s not going to travel with us is because it’s an afternoon game and he’s got an opportunity to skate here.” Sullivan didn’t rule Malkin out of Saturday’s game.

On the Toronto Maple Leafs …

Mark Masters: Forward Zach Hyman went through concussion protocol Wednesday night: “It’s really frustrating. You’re sitting in a room doing all these tests & the game’s on & you want to get back. It’s frustrating, but at the same time it’s a good thing for the league.”
