Kings leave on a road trip today, will Quick be with them?
Jon Rosen: Los Angeles Kings coach John Stevens said they will continue to evaluate goaltender Jonathan Quick. The Kings leave on a four-game road trip today. Stevens on Quick: “If not ready to go, the player stays with us.”
Curtis Zupke: Quick is listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury. He was not on the ice yesterday.
Curtis Zupke: Was told that Quick suffered his injury in practice.
Thornton to the IR
San Jose Sharks: The Sharks have put center Joe Thornton on the IR.
Red Wings lose another defenseman
Helene St. James: Detroit Red Wings defenseman Trevor Daley left yesterday’s game in the first period after awkwardly falling and hitting his head on an LA Kings players knee.
Daley will miss today’s game and will be replaced by Joe Hicketts.
The Red Wings are already without defensemen Mike Green, Jonathan Ericsson and Niklas Kronwall.
Dubinsky leaves practice
Aaron Portzline: Columbus Blue Jackets center Brandon Dubinsky left practice early yesterday with some discomfort. There won’t be an update on his status until sometime later today.
Kempny getting close to returning to the lineup
Tom Gulitti: Washington Capitals defenseman Michal Kempny (upper-body) was wearing a contact jersey at practice yesterday and not no-contact one. He could possibly be ready to go on Wednesday. Defenseman Brooks Orpik had a maintenance day on Saturday and was back at practice yesterday.
Kunin sent to the AHL
Michael Russo: Minnesota Wild forward Luke Kunin has been cleared to begin playing again soon but has been reassigned to Iowa of the AHL.
Aberg put on waivers again
Elliotte Friedman: The Anaheim Ducks put Pontus Aberg on waivers.
Cap Friendly: If the Edmonton Oilers claim Aberg, they are able to immediately send him to the AHL.
