- Renaud Lavoie: The Sabres are putting Ville Leino on waivers, and the Canucks are doing the same with David Booth, both for the purpose of buying them out.
The 30-year old Leino is three years into his six-year, $27 million deal. The move will clear $4.5 million off the cap if they use their compliance buyout. According to CapGeek, a buyout would cost the Sabres $1.222 million for the next six years.
The 29-year old Booth had one-year left with a salary of $4.75 million and cap hit of $4.25 million. According to CapGeek, Booth’s buyout would cost the Canucks $1.583 million for the next two years.
