The San Jose Sharks have hired former Los Angeles Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti as a pro scout. Colletti will be scouting the AHL and NHL this season.
“Ned has an extensive background working in professional sports and talent evaluation and he will bring a fresh perspective to our organization’s evaluation process,” said Wilson. “This was a unique opportunity to add someone of Ned’s experience to our staff.”
Colletti has never worked in hockey before but did follow hockey while growing up in Chicago.
Very cool day in my professional career to have the chance to work with @SanJoseSharks. I’m deeply honored to @SanJoseSharks, @dodgers and @SportsNetLA for the opportunity to combine my 2 sports passions. Grateful to continue to be part of the network for years to come. #mlb #nhl

Colletti had been a senior advisor to the LA Dodgers CEO and president Stan Kasten. He’s also been working as an analyst for SportsNet LA.
According to DodgerBlue, Colletti is the second former Dodgers GM to transition to another sport. Paul DePodesta was hired by the Cleveland Brown in 2016 to be their chief strategy officer.
