On the Anaheim Ducks …
Eric Duhatschek: Asked what it would cost the Flames to trade for Frederik Andersen – Think it would cost a first round pick for Andersen, and it would depend on how high that first would be, possibly something more to acquire him.
Ducks.NHL: Ducks GM Bob Murray held a press conference yesterday after they fired head coach Bruce Boudreau. Murray when asked about the rest of coaching staff.
“I haven’t made any decisions at all. I’m going to take a while here to meet with the players starting Saturday. I’ll meet them all over the next three or four days, get some thoughts, and we’ll determine what happens with the rest of the coaching staff.”
Murray when asked if he expects to make wholesale changes to the roster.
“We haven’t talked about that yet either. I have some contractual situations that will dictate some things, and David McNab and I have met a little bit on that already. That will determine some situations. I don’t think it will be the same team, that’s for sure.”
Elliotte Teaford of the OC Register: GM Murray said after firing Boudreau, “My staff, we have a list,”
A list of head coaching candidates that could be on Murray’s list: Paul MacLean, Trent Yawney, Dallas Eakins, Guy Boucher, Marc Crawford, Travis Green, Randy Carlyle and Darryl Sutter.
Greg Beacham: GM Bob Murray on re-signing pending RFA Rickard Rakell.
“Trying to keep him, and how long you go, at this point in time I’m not very fond of long-term contracts, so I’ve sworn myself to a few things that I won’t do again.
But in keeping certain people, other people may have to go … That’s what you get forced into. A couple of big contracts get signed, and you end up following because that’s what you get pushed into, and that’s what they expect, and we all are guilty of that. But sometimes, we’re going to have to push back. We may have to adopt a little bit different philosophy on some of those things going forward.”
