Canadiens looking at Pominville?
Eric Engels: Have been hearing that the Montreal Canadiens are considering forward Jason Pominville.
There have been some talks but nothing is imminent. Something to keep an eye on.
Joe Yerdon: Pominville this morning when asked if he’s been negotiating with the Canadiens: “Really!? Wow! I’ve been on the ice.”
Kronwall retires
Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: Niklas Kronwall announced his retirement from the NHL today after spending 15 seasons with the Detroit Red Wings.
“I was a 22-year-old kid when I came over from Sweden,” Kronwall said. “Now at 38, I have my own family here. Detroit has become home for us.
“There have been some ups and some downs during my time here. Wearing the winged wheel on my chest was and always will be a huge honor. When one chapter ends, another begins.”
As one chapter ends, another begins.

Blue Jackets and Werenski talking bridge
Jimmy Murphy of Boston Hockey Now: There are rumors that the Columbus Blue Jackets and Zach Werenski are talking about a bridge deal at just under $6 million per season.
Aaron Portzline of The Athletic: Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella on if Werenski isn’t re-signed by the start of training camp.
“I’d be terribly disappointed. I’m not involved in the business part of it. But for a young man to miss one minute of camp — and I’ve said this with Andy (Josh Anderson) — it disgusts me. That guy there, Werenski, the way he has evolved here. He has shown so much determination, so much more confidence and attention to detail playing defense without it really affecting his offensive game. He has really grown as a player. I just don’t want him to miss a beat here. I won’t be disappointed, I’ll be disgusted.”
