On the Boston Bruins …

Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe: Anders Bjork signed his entry-level contract with the Bruins in the spring after finishing his Junior year at college. He was told that there were positions open on the NHL roster that helped with his decision to leave school early.

“That was definitely a factor,” recalled Bjork, the former Notre Dame standout, noting why he chose to eschew his senior year with the Fighting Irish. “ Don Sweeney told me there is good opportunity here, especially for wingers. That’s exciting for me.”

Three positions on the left side are open with Matt Beleskey, Peter Cehlarik, Anton Blidh, Jake DeBrusk, Jesse Gabrielle and Kenny Agostino looking to make the team.

Bjork will likely be given a shot at right wing and would likely be battling with Zach Senyshyn and Jordan Szwarz.

Centers that could be moved to the wing include Austin Czarnik, Sean Kuraly, Jacob Forsbacka Karlsson, Danton Heinen, Noel Acciari, Frank Vatrano, Tim Schaller and Ryan Fitzgerald.

On the Edmonton Oilers …

Derek van Diest of the Edmonton Journal: The Oilers have signed 2017 first round pick Kailer Yamamoto to a three-year entry-level contract.

The 5′ 8″, 153 pound Yamamoto has scored 84 goals and 227 points in 190 games for the Spokane Chiefs of the WHL.

Anders Lee on John Tavares …

Brian Compton of NHL.com: Teammate Anders Lee isn’t concerned that John Tavares and the New York Islanders haven’t agreed on an extension yet.

“Johnny’s taking his time,” left wing Anders Lee told NHL.com on Wednesday. “There are few times in our careers where we have the power in the situation. I’m not worried about Johnny in the slightest. He means everything he says, and he’s a great teammate and a great player and leader. He’s the captain of our team and I don’t expect that to change.”

Aleksander Barkov On Jaromir Jagr …

Tom Gulitti of NHL.com: Florida Panthers Aleksander Barkov is hoping to see former teammate Jaromir Jagr play again somewhere.

“I hope he signs somewhere,” Barkov said Thursday during the European Player Media Tour. “Whether it’s the NHL, the KHL or Czech league or anywhere, I just want to see him play.”

Jagr could play for the team he owns – Kladno in the Czech Republic. The NHL is still hopefully an option for him.

“There is a couple of teams that showed interest, but nothing specific yet.”
