On the Nashville Predators …
Renaud Lavoie: The Nashville Predators were the only team to make a “serious” offer for P.K. Subban. The Canucks made an offer for Subban, but it was obviously rejected.
Adam Vingan of the Tennessean: The Predators put Eric Nystrom on waivers yesterday for the purpose of buying him out. The buyout will cost the Predators $2 million over two years – a $500,000 cap hit this year, $1 million in 2017-18.
Adam Vingan of the Tennessean: The Predators have shown some interest in pending free agents Andrew Ladd and Loui Eriksson and have spoken with agent J.P. Barry.
Ladd played for Predators coach Peter Laviolette in 2006 in Carolina.
Both Ladd’s and Eriksson’s two-way style would fit in nicely into their top-six.
“Forward-wise, we’re always looking to get a little bit better,” Predators general manager David Poile said Tuesday. “That could be a trade, that could be a free agent, that could be a combination of both of those. We’ve had meetings and we’ve talked about a number of players.”
On the Andrew Ladd …
Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times: A contingency plan for Steven Stamkos not re-signing with the Lightning was Andrew Ladd. Ladd is also getting interest from the Predators, Islanders and Canadiens.
On the Detroit Red Wings …
Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: Five options for the Red Wings.
Kyle Okposo – reports are he could be looking for $7 million a year.
David Backes – reports are he rejected a three year deal worth $15 million from the Blues earlier in the season. He’s looking for a five year deal.
Loui Eriksson – He’ll be 31 next month. He’d be good for three years, but he’s looking for more.
Andrew Ladd – thought to be looking for six years at around $6.5 million a year. Wings may be better off with Troy Brouwer – similar to Ladd but cheaper.
Mikkel Boedker – a five to six year deal wouldn’t be much of an issue as he’s only 26, but he’s reportedly looking for $5.5 million a season.
