Some potential options for the Boston Bruins
Joe McDonald of the Athletic: (written before David Pastrnak’s injury) The Boston Bruins trade deadline priority is to find a second line winger or a third line center.
“There are a few holes in their lineup that (Bruins) would want veteran players to fill,” said the evaluator. “They would love to say the young players can do it, but they’re not ready for primetime yet.”
Acquiring Artemi Panarin would cost a lot. If acquired they do have players that might be able to persuade him to sign.
Another rental that the Bruins are looking at is Jakob Silfverberg of the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks are interested in re-signing and the cost to acquire may be too high from the Bruins.
Minnesota Wild’s Charlie Coyle is from Boston. The Bruins and Wild spoke in the offseason, as well as earlier this season.
Long-shot options include Brayden Schenn, Matt Duchene, Mark Stone and Carl Hagelin.
The Ducks and Jakob Silfverberg’s camp talking … Some teams that might have trade interest in Silfverberg
Eric Stephens on The Athletic: The Anaheim Ducks would like to bring Jakob Silfverberg back next season and contract extension talks are in the active stages.
From Silfverberg’s agent, Kevin Epp, last week last week said:
“I had a good conversation with Bob last week before he left for Europe. We’ll reconvene when he gets back. It sounded like we’re talking the same language. We’re just trying to figure out if a deal can be made.”
It’s also possible that a deal may not be reached by the deadline and Silfverberg could be traded – possibly fetching a first-round pick and prospect.
The Boston Bruins could be interested, the Vancouver Canucks could use an upgrade at wing, and Pittsburgh Penguins are also looking to improve.
