On the Florida Panthers …
- Jeff Simmons of Sportsnet: Chris Johnston was on Sportsnet 590 yesterday and was talking about the Florida Panthers.
“I don’t think they’re done,” he said after Florida made three trades on Saturday. “I think they’re in the market for a winger still. Really, what they’re trying to do is capture a moment in time. They’ve had such a great season and want to give these guys the best opportunity to go on a playoff run and build up some interest in their market. This is an exciting year and GM Dale Tallon feels like he owes it to the team and organization to give them the best chance to win.”
- Thomas Drance: Hearing that the Panthers are taking offers on Brandon Pirri. They are asking for a 2nd or a 3rd – plus. Can expect the Panthers to sit back and wait for the best offer to come in.
- Todd Cordell: The Panthers are looking to recoup some draft picks after the trades they made Saturday.
- Thomas Drance: Hearing that the Panthers and Canucks talked about a Pirri deal. The Canucks aren’t considered a front runner.
Scouting the Vancouver Canucks and San Jose Sharks …
- Jeff Paterson: The Maple Leafs and Blackhawks are the only teams listed to attend the Canucks-Sharks.
On the Vancouver Canucks …
- Iain MacIntyre: It’s possible that neither of Dan Hamhuis or Radim Vrbata gets traded.
- Ed Willes of the Vancouver Province: Canucks GM Jim Benning said he’d never ask the Sedin’s to waive their no-traded clauses.
“Maybe if I’m gone and the next GM comes in, but that’s not happening under my watch,” says the Canucks’ general manager.
Henrik on if they could see them finishing their careers with the Canucks.
“In our hearts, for sure,” he said. “But when you get to that point where they ask you, you have to prepared.”
