David Pagnotta: Have heard that the Buffalo Sabres still have a few things on the go.
Trade talks involving defenseman Nathan Beaulieu have picked up over the past few days.
Not sure if defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen is really available for trade.
The Sabres are looking to upgrade at forward.
Could be quiet times for the Oilers
Bob Stauffer: The Edmonton Oilers could have a quiet deadline.
Zack Kassian has played well of late, six goals and five assists in their past 17 games, is big and can skate but may now not be available. He was available in the fall.
Ryan Rishaug: The Oilers are not in on any Cody Ceci trade talk. They are still looking for a right-handed defenseman.
Past Bruins-Oilers talks
Jimmy Murphy: Heard that sometime between early January and when Ryan Donato was traded last week, the Boston Bruins and Edmonton Oilers were talking Jesse Puljujarvi.
The Oilers insistent that Milan Lucic was included in the deal.

Frank Seravalli: Philadelphia Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher was talking to teams about forward Wayne Simmonds today. Fletcher was giving his team every opportunity to get back into the playoff race.
John Boruk of NBC Sports Philadelphia: Expect the Philadelphia Flyers to sign Cam Talbot to a two-year extension.
The Flyers won’t be trading for a rental.
It’s looking like Wayne Simmonds will be traded.
Bob McKenzie said last month that Shayne Gostisbehere was being looked at some teams.
Michael Raffl is a pending UFA that could be a depth acquisition for someone.
