Flames coach on the trade deadline
Eric Francis: Calgary Flames coach Bill Peters on the trade deadline: “I like our team. I want to keep everybody. I like our prospects and what Tre has done leading up to this season. We’re very comfortable where we are. If we stand pat we are more than happy to.”
Capitals could be finished now
JJ Regan: After acquiring Carl Hagelin and Nick Jensen, expect the Washington Capitals are done. Of course, that could change if they get an offer they can’t refuse.
Blue Jackets likely not done and would take a big offer to move Panarin
Darren Dreger: There are lots of reasons to believe that the Columbus Blue Jackets are not finished making moves.
Brian Hedger: Kekalainen when asked how the Duchene trade impacts the way he handles Panarin.
“I don’t think this affects that at all. We said right from the start and I think we have stayed consistent with what we’ve said about Panarin. We’re not going to trade Panarin just for draft picks.. We’re going to keep our eyes and ears open on what the marketplace looks like. That’s what we have said right from the start. But it would have to be a deal that we can’t refuse. It would have to make sense now and int othe future. That’s the best answer I can give you.”
Pierre LeBrun: Unless a team steps up bigtime for Artemi Panarin, the Blue Jackets plan to keep him.
John Shannon: Blue Jackets will only consider trading Panarin or other if they get fair market return.
Aaron Portzline: By acquiring Duchene at the price they did may have increased the value of Panarin. May not trade him, but are in a better position to create demand for him for teams looking for a top player.
Cap Friendly: “#BlueJackets currently have $6,186,986 in projected cap space available.
Trading for Duchene with only 44 days left in the season (& assuming there are no other roster players or retained salary involved in the deal) will eat up only $1,419,355 in space.”
