On Vadim Shipachov …

Harvey Fialkov: Source saying the Panthers are talking to Vadim Shipachov.

Aivis Kalnins: The Canadiens have spoken with Shipachov multiple times. The Panthers have been interested since the beginning.

Aivis Kalnins: Hearing that Shipachov is looking for a NHL deal, but remaining with SKA is still an option.

Aivis Kalnins: Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin said during his July 1st press conference that they are interested.

On the Nashville Predators …

Adam Vingan of the Tennessean: Calle Jarnkrok filed for salary arbitration, but the sides will continue to work on contract extension.

“He had 16 goals last year, so, yeah, we’re working on that and trying to get a multiyear deal. … By hook or by crook, we’re going to get it done,” Predators general manager David Poile said last week. “I’d like to get a longer-term deal; I think this is the right time.

“I think he fits into a specific area on our team and a specific role, and with that comes a specific price. If we can get that, great. If not then we’ll just do a one-year deal.”

The Predators get the option to decide on whether arbitration it will be for a one or two year deal as the player elected for arbitration.

If the Predators re-sign Petter Granberg, he’s likely to be their seventh defenseman.

On the New York Rangers …

Larry Brooks of the NY Post: From what we’ve learned about GM Jeff Gorton and the Rangers …

a) are extremely reluctant to trade Derek Stepan;
b) won’t trade Ryan McDonagh;
c) cannot get anything even remotely resembling equal value for Rick Nash;
d) have not been shopping Chris Kreider.

They’ve decided not to buyout Dan Girardi or Marc Staal.

A long-term deal for Kreider would cost the Rangers over $5 million a season, but a one year deal through arbitration would likely be in the $4.25 million range.
