Dallas will wait and see on the rental market
Mike Zeisberger of NHL.com: The Dallas Stars appear to be looking for a scoring rental player depending on the price.
“We’re very open to anything,” Nill said. “I think there are a lot of teams, because of how tight things are in the standings, they’re waiting to see where it all goes. So over the next two weeks that’s something we’re going to watch. We’re very open to making a hockey trade if it’s going to make us better. If we stay in the hunt the way we are, we’re open to adding to our team.”
Nill adds that any deal may be closer to the deadline when prices are established. Some teams who might be sellers are still hanging in the playoff race.
“If that price makes sense to us, we’re open to it. If it doesn’t, we won’t be doing it. It’s pretty straightforward that way and I think it’s that way with a lot of teams.”
Dallas a potential landing spot for Panarin?
Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Elliotte Frieman on Sportsnet 590 was asked if the Dallas Stars could end up being a player in Artemi Panarin before the deadline.
“Panarin – I mentioned earlier this week, I saw the four main players for a rental being Winnipeg, Islanders, Nashville, and Calgary,” recalled Friedman. “Somebody said to me yesterday, ‘Do not count out Dallas.’
“They got destroyed last night by Tampa. But if they put some guys on injured reserve as I think they’re going to for the year, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re looking at this too – for Panarin.”
