On the Anaheim Ducks …
News 1130 Sports: Elliotte Friedman reports that the Ducks are interested in Utica’s (AHL – Canucks affiliate) head coach Travis Green. He’s likely to get an interview.
On the Ottawa Senators …
Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen: Bruce Boudreau arrived in Ottawa last night and will meet with GM Pierre Dorion today. Boudreau could be the leading candidate and he has family in the area.
“My daughter lives here, my grand-daughter who I don’t get to see too often and she’s only (18 months) and actually all my family is back East. That’s always a really compelling thing,” Boudreau told Postmedia. “Ottawa itself is compelling itself because they’ve got the opportunity to be a pretty good team and they’ve got a lot of pretty good pieces in place.”
The Senators could have a list of 10 coaching candidates. Names that are known to be on it: Bruce Boudreau, Mike Yeo, Guy Boucher, Randy Carlyle, Marc Crawford, Benoit Groulx, Kevin Dineen and Bob Hartley.
On the Arizona Coyotes …
Craig Morgan of Arizona Sports: Coyotes coach Dave Tippett received a new five-year contract and added VP of Hockey Operations. John Chayka was named their new GM. Co-owner Gary Drummond was named the President of Hockey Operations.
The Coyotes are still looking to add an assistant GM, one from a pool of candidates whose teams are still in the playoffs. Sources have said that Stars assistant GM Les Jackson could still be in the running for the position. Tippett:
“Just to be involved a little more in the player personnel and the blueprint of the style of team we want; the kind of players we want in each slot,” he said. “It will be nothing to do with the Draft or anything like that. I want to deal with the pro side and deal with our team.”
The Coyotes are also not sure where they will be playing after next season, but Tippett isn’t concerned.
“I think those things will get taken care of,” he said. “That, along with the Tucson (AHL move) thing. It’s going to take a while for them all to come to fruition but if it goes the way I hope it goes it could really be a very positive situation.”
Craig Morgan: Coyotes CEO Anthony LeBlanc said they’ve had substantial talks with the Mayor of Phoenix this week about an arena.
Sarah McLellan: LeBlanc would be shocked if they didn’t have an arena announcement by the June 24th draft.
