Collection of tweets surrounding Edmonton Oilers goaltender Cam Talbot and the Philadelphia Flyers
My NHL Trade Rumors: Elliotte Friedman said last night on Sportsnet that the Edmonton Oilers and Philadelphia Flyers are talking Cam Talbot. The Flyers have cheaper goaltending options like Brian Elliott.
Tablot and Flyers rookie goaltender Carter Hart have a history together.
The Oilers need extra salary cap space to take defenseman Andrej Sekera off the LTIR.
Darren Dreger: Talk is the Oilers and Flyers are discussing goaltender Talbot. Talks could be preliminary, but the sides are talking.
Darren Dreger: Talbot and Hart have a relationship and it could be a good fit for Talbot.
Flyers may not be the only team looking at Talbot
Pierre LeBrun: There are a few teams that have considered acquiring Talbot and giving him a bit of test run before he becomes a UFA at the end of the season.
The Carolina Hurricanes were one team that talked about it internally a few weeks ago.
The Flyers would be a good fit to mentor Hart.
Mark Spector: The Oilers are talking to other teams about Talbot. The Talbot-Hart relationship is intriguing and might be a good deal for the Flyers.
Talbot trade talk makes sense
Cap Friendly: “It’s also worth noting that even if Edmonton were to retain 50% of Talbot’s remaining cap hit (the maximum permitted), it would still clear enough space off the clubs salary cap to allow the #Oilers to then activate Andrej Sekera from LTIR.”
Terry Jones: “It makes sense for Oilers to be talking trade involving Cam Talbot. Agree or disagree, they’re all in with Koskinen. Talbot has value and they have goaltenders developing. But I hate it when you ship out a guy who was all-in on making Edmonton his year-round home.”
Return for Talbot won’t be that much
Ryan Rishaug: The Oilers need to clear out salary and every team knows it. Talbot makes a lot so can’t see the return for him being too high if they are able to move him. Would guess they would get a goalie in return and not much more.
