Islanders looking to add and they have the room
Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Pierre LeBrun on TSN 1040 Friday morning on the New York Islanders.
(Before the Duchene trade to the Blue Jackets) understand that the Islanders went after Matt Duchene in a trade and were interested in signing him to an extension if he was interested. The Islanders are also interested in a number of other players.
“I think Lou Lamoriello absolutely wants to add. He’s got the cap room – obviously he’s got the cap room after losing John Tavares and not replacing him.
“So I think they’re pretty excited about what they’ve accomplished this year. They’re in first place in the wide-open Metro, and they’d like to add.”
Ho-Sang unsure the lies in the future
Arthur Staple of The Athletic: New York Islanders forward prospect Josh Ho-Sang, who could be traded by Monday, was asked about the deadline
“I don’t know what’s going to happen, I don’t know what they want to do with me. I’m not opposed to (being traded) if it helps the Islanders get better,” Ho-Sang said after Bridgeport practiced here on Thursday ahead of a third consecutive three-in-three weekend. “They’re a good team this year. For me, obviously I want to play in the NHL, that’s my main focus. For them, if they need to trade me for pieces to go further in the playoffs, improve the great team they have, then I’m all for it. I support any decision that Lou (Lamoriello) makes. Moving forward, the main focus is here. If they’re trading me to make themselves better, that’s a positive for the Islanders and I’ll focus on that when the time comes.”
