On the Florida Panthers …
- George Richards: Hearing that the Panthers may be cooling on Andrew Ladd due to the high asking price. Word is it would cost a first round pick and a top prospect for Ladd.
- Harvey Fialkov: GM Dale Tallon said he’s looking to bring in one piece before the trade deadline.
- Harvey Fialkov: Tallon wants to re-sign Brian Campbell and Jaromir Jagr and extend Vincent Trocheck and Eric Gudbranson. Jagr on a one year deal is looking good.
- The Fourth Period: GM Dale Tallon said on the NHL Network radio yesterday that he’s talking to teams but “nothing concrete yet.” The Panthers have shown interest in Andrew Ladd, Mikkel Boedker, Eric Staal, Kris Russell and others. The Panther have a lot of cap space available and would have no problem fitting in more than one top-tier player.
On the Philadelphia Flyers …
- Craig Custance: The Flyers and Michael Raffl have had contract extension talks, but nothing is imminent.
- Sam Carchidi: The Flyers are trying to trade several veterans before the deadline.
- Tom Dougherty of CSN Philly: Flyers GM Ron Hextall on the approaching trade deadline.
“We’re not going to add,” general manager Ron Hextall told Comcast SportsNet’s John Boruk in a 1-on-1 interview Wednesday afternoon. “We feel like we have depth, quite honestly.
“I feel like we have a couple guys up in Lehigh Valley that can help us, so we feel that we have enough depth right now to make it through the year.
“If someone goes down, we got good fillers for them. We’re going to hold. If something comes up that we can make ourselves better for the future, we’ll at least look at it.”
Teams are increasing their phone calls to Hextall. Teams on the bubble may think they still have a shot, benefiting the teams that are selling.
The Flyers could look to move Mark Streit, Nick Schultz and Evgeny Medvedev.
“If we can bolster ourselves for the future and not lose much (now),” Hextall said, “we’d certainly look at it.”
