Kristen Odland of the Calgary Sun: The money saved by the Flames in buying Mason Raymond out, and the future LTIRing Ladislav Smid, the Flames could use the extra cap space in free agency and re-signing Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan.
They need to bring in a backup goalie, and they could consider former Predators Carter Hutton. Chad Johnson could be another option, same with bringing Joni Ortio back.
Unless they can re-sign Joe Colborne and Josh Jooris by tonight, both will becomes free agents.
