On the Philadelphia Flyers …
Tim Panaccio: The Flyers didn’t interview draft prospect Julien Gauthier.
Dave Isaac of the Courier-Post: Flyers GM Ron Hextall said he has had some trade calls, but it’s not looking like a deal will be done just yet.
“Right now I’d say if I was a betting man I’d say nothing’s going to happen,” Hextall said, “but that can change in a hurry.”
On what they may be looking to do with their No. 18 pick.
“At the end of the day it comes down to evaluating and taking the best player available,” Pryor said last week. “Size does become a factor and the skill level and the speed. Those are all intangibles that the scouting staff has earmarked.”
The Flyers have about $14 million in cap space and they could be active in free agency.
They need to take care of some of their own free agents first. Contract talks with Brayden Schenn are ongoing. There should still be enough room for a top-six winger after they re-sign Schenn.
On the Arizona Coyotes …
Craig Morgan: Coyotes president and CO Anthony LeBlanc said they have an arena site and are working through the legal side of things for the real estate agreement
On the New Jersey Devils …
Todd Cordell: Kyle Palmieri’s agent, Steve Bartlett said there is nothing new to report with regards to contract talks with the Devils. They are expected to talk at the draft.
On the Ottawa Senators …
Chris Johnson: Both Patrick Wiercioch and Alex Chiasson are being shopped by the Senators. They will make a decision on them by the end of the weekend.
Bruce Garrioch: Senators GM Peter Dorion said yesterday that he had some “interesting conversations” with teams.
Darren Dreger: Talks between the Senators and Cody Ceci are ongoing. Nothing appears close at the moment.
Don Brennan: If the Bruins aren’t able to re-sign Loui Eriksson, he’d be a nice top-six forward for the Senators.
