On the Boston Bruins …
- Matt Dolloff of CBS Boston: Bruins president Cam Neely on Loui Eriksson
“There have been recent discussions,” Neely said of Eriksson. “ Don sent something way; we haven’t gotten a response yet, but there have been ongoing discussions.”
Neely said that they are actively shopping for trades, but not necessarily for Eriksson.
“I know Don’s talking to teams about a number of different things,” said Neely. “Not specifically Loui, but just, ‘How are we going to improve our club today and tomorrow?’”
- Darren Dreger: The Bruins and Loui Eriksson are expected to resume contract negotiations today, but a large gap still remains. The Bruins have three options: 1) close gap 2) trade 3) keep as own rental.
- Jimmy Murphy: From what Murphy has heard, and with Cam Neely confirming another contract offer to Loui Eriksson, thinking that there is a better chance that he’s re-signed.
- Jimmy Murphy: Cam Neely doesn’t rule out the Bruins trading one of their first round picks, but said it would have to be the “right deal,” and that it’s more likely to happen at the draft.
On the Dallas Stars …
- Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News: Guessing the the Stars didn’t put Valeri Nichushkin on the trade block. Heika does think that Nichushkin’s name could have come up in trade talk if it involved a really good player. Julius Honka’s name could have come up as well. Doesn’t mean they are going to trade them. GM Jim Nill could be finding out what teams think of their prospects.
On Ilya Kovalchuk …
- Aivis Kalnins: Ilya Kovalchuk has told SKA that if he’s not on their roster in two days, he’ll be terminating his contract and heading to North America.
- Greg Wyshynski: Kovalchuk needs all 30 teams to agree to all him to return. If he doesn’t play hockey for a year, he only needs the Devils to approve.
