On the Calgary Flames …
- Eric Francis of the Calgary Sun: First round draft pick Mark Jankowski’s college career ended on Friday, and now he has to decide whether to sign with the Flames or wait until August 15th and sign elsewhere.
“We feel confident that it will get done,” Flames GM Brad Treliving told the Calgary Sun two weeks ago when asked about signing Jankowski, a player he and the Flames organization have worked closely with.
“We talk to him basically daily and there’s a really good relationship. He’s not a guy who will likely step in right away. He still needs time.”
When reached a couple weeks ago, Jankowski wouldn’t comment on which way he was leaning.
On the Nashville Predators …
- Adam Vingan of the Tennessean: The Predators are now able to sign Jimmy Vesey and will be meeting with him soon. The Predators released the following statement yesterday.
“Nashville Predators representatives, including general manager David Poile, were in Worcester, Massachusetts, last night to watch Harvard’s NCAA Tournament game against Boston College,” the statement said. “Jimmy’s exceptional college career came to a close as Harvard was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament.
“At some point over the next several days, David and Predators hockey personnel plan to meet with Jimmy, his family and his representatives to discuss and reinforce his opportunities to begin his NHL career with the Predators in the immediate future.”
