Not a guarantee that the Senators will trade all three

TSN: Bob McKenzie said that even though the Senators made all three of Mark Stone, Matt Duchene and Ryan Dzingel a healthy scratch last night, it doesn’t mean 100 percent that they will move all three. The players haven’t come out and said they aren’t re-signing and the Senators haven’t come out and said they are trading them.

Asking price for Stone set?

Paul @Sens_Army_: Darren Dreger and Bob McKenzie on the Bobcast said that the asking price for Mark Stone would likely be two first-round picks and two prospects or players.

Paul @Sens_Army_: Dreger and McKenzie did say that the team acquiring Stone at that price would want to sign him to a long-term contract and not a pure rental.

TSN: McKenzie on the asking price for Mart Stone.

“… the belief is that they’d be looking for four elements to the trade. It could be as much as two first-round picks and two very good prospects.”

Brian Lawton: “The 64 million dollar question is will someone give up 4 assets to acquire Mark Stone? Not likely without knowing they can sign him.”

Duchene’s agent not in on trade extension talks yet

TSN: Darren Dreger adds that it’s not easy to figure out how many teams are interested in Duchene. There are teams that can extend him but agent Pat Brisson hasn’t been brought into things yet.

“Now that can change with a simple text or a phone call but it hasn’t happened just yet. It could be as many as five teams with interest in trading for him or much more than that beyond the rental market. So it’s a moving target specifically with Matt Duchene.”

Notes on the Senators big three

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: It’s not known what the exact Senators aggressive offer to Mark Stone was, but there was talk about a five- and six-year offers at more than his current $7.35 million.

One executive said every contending team will make a pitch for him. The Winnipeg Jets appear to be the frontrunners. The St. Louis Blues are a team to watch.

The Nashville Predators appear to be the hottest on Duchene, with the Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Islanders linked.

A league executive said that Ryan Dzingel is looking for a five-year deal at $5 million per.

Jimmy Murphy: Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney indicated, and confirms that the Bruins are in a holding pattern with regards to Dzingel and Stone.

The current price is too high for them right now but there is a sense that they could get back in it or moving to other top-six wingers.
