Do the Senators sit Stone and Duchene soon?

Travis Yost: “I’d be surprised if Ottawa lets Stone and Duchene play through the deadline. Not sure how you can swallow that risk at this point.”

Travis Yost: “It’s very rare to have completely meaningless games here but that’s where Ottawa is right now. No pick, no line on any extension so far, and no playoffs. You can’t miss the trade.”

Could Stone get an extension if traded?

Shawn Simpson: Gut says that if Mark Stone gets moved to the Vegas Golden Knights that it would come with a contract extension.

Would the Winnipeg Jets be able to make room for Stone long-term?

Could the Winnipeg Jets and Ottawa Senators come together on a Mark Stone deal

TSN: The Ottawa Senators management has been in Winnipeg and will remain there for a bit to scout the Jets organization.

There is some speculation that the Jets could be interested in Mark Stone or Matt Duchene. Jason Bell of the Winnipeg Free Press said the Oilers could be looking at forward Jack Roslovic, defenseman Sami Niku and goaltender Eric Comrie.

Darren Dreger said that Jets could be looking at adding a top-six winger and maybe more interested in Stone and than Duchene.

Jets coach Paul Maurice said that he doesn’t see them replacing center Bryan Little in their top-six.

Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Elliotte Friedman was on Sportsnet 590 and was asked about the Winnipeg Jets, Ottawa Senators and Mark Stone.

Friedman thinks that the Jets could be the number one contender to land Stone if he’s traded.

“They’ve got some great prospects. I definitely think the kinds of guys they’d be asking for are guys like Roslovic, Sami Niku – who’s the American Hockey League defenseman of the year.

….

“And there’s another guy, Vesalainen, who’s their first-round pick a year ago. He’s overseas. I’m sure Ottawa has seen him.”

Friedman isn’t sure if the Jets would want to give up any of those guys, but it’s a possibility.
