On the Toronto Maple Leafs …
- Chris Johnston of Sportsnet: Maple Leafs winger P.A. Parenteau said it’s the best he’s felt in three years and is really happy with how things have gone for him this year. He is also one of the most likely Leafs to get traded before the deadline. Contending teams will like his offensive game and the fact that he’s not a defensive liability. Parenteau knows he likely to be traded.
“I know it’s a possibility; I’m well aware of that and so is my family,” said Parenteau. “I’ve said it – I love it here, I’d love to stay – but I know how it works.”
Even if he is traded at the deadline, Parenteau would consider signing back with the Maple Leafs on July 1st.

On the Edmonton Oilers …
- Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: The Oilers could get a draft pick or young prospect for pending UFA Teddy Purcell. Purcell knows the Oilers are sellers and that he could be moved.
“Am I concerned about the trade deadline? If I said no, that would be a lie,” he said.
“It’s always in the back of your head but I’m a pretty laid-back guy, somebody who’s been around enough to control the highs and lows. I have been traded before ( at the deadline).”
Purcell said that contract extension talks have gone on, but they were just in the exploratory stages.
“They’ve talked, a couple of discussions. They haven’t said one way or the other. I’m at peace with whatever happens.”
Purcell said he would consider re-signing with the Oilers even if they traded him.
“Yeah. I enjoy my time here. There’s probably not as much to do off the ice as living in Florida but with the coaching staff and ownership, the guys here, the new rink coming … there’s a lot of excitement to be part of,” he said.
