Could Robin Lehner be an option for the Philadelphia Flyers

On the Philadelphia Flyers …

John Boruk of NBC Sports Philadelphia: Flyers GM Ron Hextall on looking at the goalie market and other options.

“I can’t say I’ll go with the 23 guys on the roster right now,” Hextall said Tuesday. “I’ll repeat what I always say — if I can make our team better at any position, we’ll look at it. The deadline is two weeks away. I guess things could change between now and then.”

The Flyers could look to add a goaltender that is on a short deal.

Alex Lyon will be their backup for now. The Flyers also have 28-year old Dustin Tokarski playing in the AHL.

“He’s got experience. He’s got playoff experience,” Hextall said. “We wanted to add another layer of depth to our goaltending position. Dustin’s been good up there. Would I be comfortable if he came down here to play some games for us? Yes.”

On the Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia Flyers, Buffalo Sabres, and Pittsburgh Penguins …

Dan Rosen of NHL.com: (mailbag) The Kings could use some scoring help on the wing. They won’t give up their first-round draft pick. They’ve only made three first-round picks in the past seven years.

The Flyers current plan is to go with Michal Neuvirth and Steve Lyon in net while Brian Elliott is out (five to six weeks). The Flyers could look to acquire a veteran backup before the deadline. GM Ron Hextall doesn’t want to add a goaltender that has term left on his deal. Red Wings Petr Mrazek and Sabres Robin Lehner are both pending RFAs. The price to acquire may be more than they want to give up.

The Sabres could be buyers and sellers at the deadline. They could move out Evander Kane, and Lehner for prospects and draft picks. They could use some of their assets to trade for Mike Hoffman or another player with term, maybe Alex Galchenyuk.

Oilers Mark Letestu could be the ideal option for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He’s a pending UFA and likely won’t cost a lot. Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Derick Brassard are other options, but the cost to acquire is higher.
