On Vladimir Sobotka, Dallas Stars and Jaromir Jagr …
- TSN Insider Trading: Pierre LeBrun: In June, Vladimir Sobotka has a one-month window to opt out of his KHL deal with Avangard. Indications are that he’ll be returning to the NHL for next season. He owes the Blues one more season at $2.75 million.
- Darren Dreger: The Stars won’t decide on what to do with their pending free agents until after the season – Jason Demers, Kris Russell and Alex Goligoski. GM Jim Nill said he’d like to keep them.
- Pierre LeBrun: Think that Jaromir Jagr wants to play another season, but he wants to see how he feels physically and mentally after the season. Jagr’s agent and GM Dale Tallon will talk after the season. Brian Campbell’s camp and Tallon spoke last month, and they will talk again after the season.
On James Reimer …
- Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: James Reimer’s agent was talking to the Maple Leafs about a contract extension before he was traded to the Sharks.
“I don’t think I want to get into all the details, but I had the feeling I would stick around in Toronto,” said Reimer, a pending unrestricted free agent. “I didn’t get the feeling at all that I’d be going somewhere. So I was a little surprised when it happened. But at the same time, I wasn’t shocked. You know the situation Toronto is in. I guess they felt they were building for the future and get some pieces.”
On Jimmy Vesey …
- Thomas Willis: Predators prospect Jimmy Vesey’s college career is now over after their loss to Boston College.
- Adam Vingan: Vesey back in December about the Maple Leafs rumors: “My dad’s a scout for the Leafs, but I wouldn’t read too much into that.”
- Damien Cox: Key point on Vesey – the Preadators can sign him immediately, where other teams would have to wait until August. The Predators think they have a great relationship with him and want to sign him immediately.
- Damien Cox: Predators GM David Poile has said that it would be “less than perfect” if they are not able to sign him to play for them this season. Vesey is using the same agent – Peter Fish – as Jack Eichel.
