NHL Rumors: Flames, Wild and Canucks

On the Calgary Flames …

Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: Flames GM Brad Treliving on goaltending.

“We’re in a bunch of different markets on that, so we’ll see how it goes,” he added more seriously.

Options could be Ben Bishop, Marc-Andre Fleury or Brian Elliott.

The rules for the expansion draft will help the Flames as teams can only protect one goalie.

“Yeah, that’s a fair statement, that’s fair,” Treliving said, smiling. “It’s a balancing act of timing, it’s a balancing act of acquisition cost, it’s all those types of things. You’ve seen it in the market so far. There’s deals that have been done because of expansion coming . I expect there will be more, but when those happen, we’ll see.”

The Penguins asking price for Fleury is believed to be too high for the Flames. Concern for the Flames with regards to Bishop would be the cost to acquire and if they could extend him.

Dreger on Brad Treliving: “It sure sounds like he’s looking at Ben Bishop real hard.”

Treliving on preference to get something done this weekend: “Yeah. This is the time. You need a dance partner, that’s how it works.”

On the Minnesota Wild …

MIN is fielding offers on some of its good young D. A trade of a D for a good young forward is possible but not necessarily assured.

— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) June 23, 2016

Nothing has been formalized to this point, but the probability of MIN buying out Tomas Vanek in the next couple of days appears quite high.

— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) June 23, 2016

IF Vanek were to be bought out, numbers would be:

2016-17: $1,500,000
2017-18: $2,500,000https://t.co/j24GLbxZnw pic.twitter.com/7KBTnqZWPS

#MNWild GM Chuck Fletcher said he’s, “had a lot of conversations” with Jason Zucker’s agent regarding a new contract for the RFA winger.

— Chad Graff (@ChadGraff) June 23, 2016

#MNWild GM Chuck Fletcher: “Today’s been relatively quiet.”

— Chad Graff (@ChadGraff) June 23, 2016

Fletcher on trade market: “I’ve been an active listener & we’ll see where it leads us, if anywhere.”

— Minnesota Wild (@mnwild) June 23, 2016

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Benning says the #Canucks will call Steven Stamkos’ agent on Saturday as well as the top wingers in free agency.

— Matthew Sekeres (@mattsekeres) June 23, 2016

#Canucks believe 2nd round isn’t as deep as last year and that there’s a steep drop-off in 3rd round.

— Matthew Sekeres (@mattsekeres) June 23, 2016

Benning talked to 4-5 teams this morning trying to collect another pick, believes 20 players have chance to be top-6 Fs or top-4 Ds
