Maple Leafs and others looking at McQuaid?
Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Bob McKenzie was on TSN 1050 talking about the Toronto Maple Leafs potentially looking for a depth defenseman.
Last week McKenzie wondered about Detroit Red Wings Nick Jensen. This week McKenzie wonders about New York Rangers defenseman Adam McQuaid.
“Real hard rock, more of a depth defenseman, more of a 5-6-7, but brings an element that the Leafs and other teams look for at the deadline. There’s no question in my mind that the Rangers are going to trade him.”
McKenzie thinks the Rangers believe they may be able to get a fourth and seventh round pick for McQuaid, the same picks they gave up for him – plus Steve Kampfer – before the season started.
“Now whether the Leafs are in on that or whatever – but those are the types of deals that might make more sense than trying to do a blockbuster or what have you.”
Mike Augello: “One concern about the #Leafs possibly acquiring Adam McQuaid. Who will he unseat if they acquire him? It should be Zaitsev (but it won’t be)….it will probably be Dermott and that would be a mistake.”
