On the Toronto Maple Leafs and Dallas Stars …

Frank Seravalli: Sounding like the Maple Leafs and Stars are among the teams that have talked to the Detroit Red Wings about center Luke Glendening. Glendening has played for Leafs coach Mike Babcock, but the Red Wings won’t be just giving him away.

Sean Shapiro: Spoke with Stars GM GM Nill who said that they have not reached out to the Red Wings about center Luke Glendening, and they don’t have any plans too.

On the Edmonton Oilers …

Andy Strickland: Looking like the Oilers will end up moving forward Patrick Maroon. Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli and Maroon’s agent have spoken multiple times, but a trade is likely. Maroon needs to hit a home run on his next contract.

Jim Matheson: The Oilers need an offensive defenseman that is able to run their power play and to complement Conor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. They want Coyotes Oliver Edman-Larsson.

On the Nashville Predators …

Adam Vingan of The Tennessean: Predators GM David Poile on the upcoming trade deadline.

“I think we’re closer to doing nothing than to do something,” Predators general manager David Poile said Tuesday of the Feb. 26 deadline.

Poile added that they have good chemistry and that the worst thing they could do would be to trade for someone that doesn’t fit in.

Sportsnet reported earlier in the week that the Predators were all in on Rick Nash.

Their first-round pick will be at the lower end of the round. They should be wary of moving Dante Fabbro, and Eeli Tolvanen should be a non-starter.

“You’ve got to get your arms around what you’re willing to pay,” Poile said. “You can’t say today you’ll never do this, and on Feb. 26, you do it.

“It’s not there yet. It’s not clear. Prices aren’t right.”
