The Vegas Golden Knights have traded defenseman Colin Miller to the Buffalo Sabres for a 2021 2nd round pick (St. Louis) and a 2022 5th round pick. (pending trade call – Bob McKenzie)
The 26-year old right-handed defenseman was drafted 151st overall in the 5th round of the 2012 draft by the Los Angeles Kings.
Thoughts from the media
Jonathan Willis: “Not a great return for Vegas, but you can see the value Miller had on the market given that the Golden Knights were in a major cap bind. Nice addition for the Sabres, who now have Ristolainen, Montour, Miller, Bogosian and Casey Nelson as right-shot defencemen.”
Patrick Johnston: “Once again a reminder that away from the draft, you can make value trades without giving up first round picks.”
Mike Harrington: “Miller immediately becomes a top-4 caliber add for #Sabres.”
Mike Augello: “Good addition for the #Sabres. Miller was very effective in VGK’s Cup run in 18, and is locked up for three more years at a reasonable $3.875 Million AAV.”
Todd Cordell: “Know Vegas was up against it but this is a nice bit of business for the Sabres.”
Travis Yost: “Second round pick for a quality second pairing guy seems pretty good.”
After trading Colin Miller and his $3.875M AAV to Buffalo for picks, #Vegas are now $899,999 above the $81.5M ceiling, with a roster of 18 (12F/5D/1G)
However, with David Clarkson as an LTI candidate, VGK can submit an opening day roster of up to $86.75Mhttps://t.co/Sxtahahh6c pic.twitter.com/7ZZxqn7bgn

TRADE
Sabres: Colin Miller
Golden Knights: I don't know yet, but I'm about to go out for dinner so just gonna tweet this nowMiller is an excellent puck-mover that *crushes* cushy minutes. A good bet for Buffalo to see what he can handle in a top four role. pic.twitter.com/luvaZ5l5FS
