According to TSN, Detroit Red Wings defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom will be back with the team next season. No “official” has come from Lidstrom or the team, but from someone speaking “on condition of anonymity”. No word on what exactly he’ll be signing for, but the Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press mentions it’s for about $7 million. Chris McCosky of the Detroit News is reporting it’s believed to be worth around $6 million.
Lidstrom was contiplating retirement after his 18 season with the club. Lidstrom recorded 49 points in 82 games this year. In 1412 career games, Lidstrom has scored 237 goals, and 809 assists for 1046 total points, and is a +431. There has not been a season that he has been a minus. He has won 6 Norris Trophy’s.
