Frank Seravalli: It was the first time in NHL that the No. 1 seeds in the Eastern and Western Conferences were eliminated in the first round.

Svechnikov doubtful

Chip Alexander: Carolina Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour said that it’s doubtful that Andrei Svechnikov plays today.

Simmonds and Boyle practicing

Robby Stanley: Nashville Predators coach Peter Laviolette said that Rocco Grimaldi is day-to-day but added that he had a maintenance day yesterday. Doesn’t appear that his issue is that serious.

Brooks Bratten: Predators Wayne Simmonds (lower-body) and Brian Boyle (appendix) both practiced yesterday.

Brooks Bratten: Both Simmonds and Boyle were in regular jerseys.

Boychuk out three weeks

Arthur Staple: New York Islanders defenseman Johnny Boychuk will be out for three to four weeks.

Forward Cal Clutterbuck and defenseman Scott Mayfield took maintenance days.

Haley skates

Nick Cotsonika: San Jose Sharks forward Michael Haley was on the ice yesterday without equipment.

Oshie update coming today or tomorrow

Isabelle Khurshudyan: Washington Capitals coach Todd Reiden said that T.J. Oshie was meeting with doctors yesterday.

When asked if Oshie could be back this postseason, Reirden said:

“I’ll know more in the next, I’d say, 24-48 hours, exactly a timetable. But he won’t be playing tomorrow.”
