  • Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune: Lightning forward Martin St. Louis will wear a visor when he returns. Last Thursday he struck by a Dominic Moore backhand during the pregame skate.

“I was scared, I was scared, like I felt — and I don’t know if it was anxiety or everything, I just felt very, very sick before I got to the hospital,” he said. “You have a lot going through your mind.”

“That night, at that point I knew that I had vision in the eye,” he said. “I didn’t know what kind of vision I had, but I could see light and movement, so I knew that it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was.”

St. Louis can’t do any physical activity until the blood subsides from his eye. There is no timetable. Coach Guy Boucher said on Monday that he doesn’t expect him back until after Christmas.

  • Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun: Senators forward Milan Michalek collided with defenseman Erik Karlsson in the 2nd period last night, and he didn’t return. The Senators are only saying “upper body” at the moment. He’ll be re-evaluated today.
  • Andrew Gross of the Bergon Record: Rangers defenseman Marc Staal skated yesterday with teammates yesterday. He’s still out indefinitely, but a positive step in his recovery.
  • Steve Conroyy of hte Boston Herald: Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara missed last night’s game but is with the team on their road trip. They have 2 scheduled practice days before their game on Saturday against the Flyers.
  • Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post Dispatch: Blues forward Vladimir Sobotka will be out for about 2 weeks after he took a shot off his left ankle. The Blues are also waiting on news from Matt D’Agostini who suffered a head injury on Saturday. He tested OK for a concussion after the game.
